Vision of Vocational training at ACPD

  

The Vocational Orientation Stage is the culmination of years of cognitive, behavioral and social rehabilitation undertaken by our students, with the main goal of preparing our students for the next stage of their journey to fully exploring their abilities.

At Awladouna Center for People of Determination, we assess students’ occupational inclinations and abilities at 14 years’ and create an individual education plan (IEP) in cooperation with parents and the student himself/herself. The team of specialists that oversee the implementation of the IEP include:

  • Psychologists
  • Speech therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Special Education teacher
  • Art therapists
  • Vocational trainers

Vocational training curriculum

ACPD training curriculum targets people of determination outside the rehabilitation centers as part of an initiative to develop vocational rehabilitation programs in tandem with the UAE labor market requirements and policies for the people of determination.

We have proven successes in the integration of our students from the vocational training program in government sector positions and banking institutions. In total, no less than eight graduates of the vocational training program have found employment across different sectors in the UAE market.

Vocational units at ACPD

Vocational qualifications are offered in both English and Arabic across seven different training fields.

  1. Merchandise: Printing on T. shirts, mugs, frames caps, etc…
  2. ‘Thread and Needle’ unit: tables cover, cushions, abayas, embroidery, bags etc.…
  3. Laser unit: designing merchandise commemorating a festive occasion (i.e. UAE National Day, Mother’s Day) using laser-based printing and machinery
  4. Accessories unit: creating jewelry
  5. Carpentry unit
  6. Cement-based pottery
