Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan has felicitated the winners of the 10th edition of the Braille Story Reading Award for the Blind organized by Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) under the slogan ‘Everyone Reads’, at Abu Dhabi Energy Centre (ADEC). Accompanied by Abdullah Abdul Ali Al-Humaidan, ZHO’s Secretary-General, and Naama Abdul-Rahman Al-Mansoori, Member of the UAE Federal National Council and Director of ZHO’s Blind Welfare Department, he felicitated the winners and presented certificates of appreciation and prizes.
He also felicitated Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Award’s partners and participating publishing houses. Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan extended generous sponsorship for the Braille Story Reading Award since its inception in 2007, thereby contributing to its success and sustainability, and even its spread by giving the opportunity for participation from all over the world. ZHO also receives support from Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, and members of the Board of Directors. In the 10th edition, there were 113 contestants from both inside and outside the country. The Braille Story Reading Award for the Blind is the first of its kind in the Arab world to showcase their reading skills through meaningful stories. This project had won the Khalifa Award for Education in 2011 in the Innovative Educational Projects and Programs category.
