Ministry of Social Development in Jordan
The Ministry of Social Development, through the Directorate of Shelter Alternatives and Affairs for
Persons with Disabilities, works to care for, rehabilitate, and empower persons with disabilities in line
with the Constitution and Law No. 20 of 2017 on their rights. Within the framework of promoting
integration and independence, the Directorate seeks to gradually replace residential care with inclusive
daytime services. Therefore, the Directorate currently includes five shelter centers for 570 beneficiaries
and 30 inclusive daytime centers for 1,700 beneficiaries, in addition to 37 early intervention units and
three mobile units serving 1,300 children and families, providing various rehabilitation activities and
services with the support of 600 specialized staff.
