Haroon’s Journey of Determination and Growth at Al Noor

Haroon, a highly cooperative and dedicated 8-year-old boy with cerebral palsy, has made remarkable strides at the Al Noor Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities. He has been receiving individualized physical therapy sessions regularly at our centre. His journey during the current academic year highlights his determination and the profound impact of our comprehensive and individualized physical therapy program.

At the start of the year, he required minimal assistance to climb to a wheelchair from a mat, but now he can go on to a wheelchair independently himself.

At the beginning of the year, he could not maintain standing without support and required minimal assistance to walk, but now his balance has improved, and he has recently started walking under supervision.

His remarkable improvement is also due to the integration of physical activities in classroom settings and other routines. Routine-based practice, a technique widely used in our centre, has provided him with everyday opportunities to practice standing across different environments, which is essential for motor learning. He has practiced transitioning from a wheelchair to an adaptive chair, sitting to standing, balancing in a standing position, and walking during transitions between classes and sessions. This holistic approach, combined with the efforts of his therapists and educators, has significantly advanced his mobility.

Haroon’s journey is a testament to what can be achieved with dedication, skilled support, and a comprehensive therapy approach. His progress in postural control, standing, and walking inspires everyone around him, proving that with the right support and determination, incredible progress is possible.
