and access to \u2013 tech that can make a fundamental difference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAssistive technology is a life changer \u2013 it opens the door to education for children with impairments, employment and social interaction for adults living with disabilities, and an independent life of dignity for older persons,\u201d said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Huge disparities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although more than 2.5 billion people require one or more assistive products to support communication and cognition \u2013 such as wheelchairs or hearing aids \u2013 a shocking one billion simply have no access to them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report highlights the vast gap between low and high-income countries, with an analysis of 35 States revealing that admittance varies from three per cent in poorer nations, to 90 per cent in wealthy countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNearly 240 million children have disabilities,\u201d said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Denying them the right to the products they need to thrive not only harms individual children, \u201cit deprives families and their communities of everything they could contribute if their needs were met,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Source:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/story\/2022\/05\/1118212\">UN News\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;19821&#8243;
