People of determination face numerous challenges in their community. To achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives, they frequently must overcome physical, emotional, and social barriers. Whatever your profession, there is always something you can do to help and support.
Here are some golden tips on how individuals and society can better support people of determination and their families to ensure they have access to the same opportunities as everyone else:
Increase Accessibility: Ensure that all public spaces, buildings, and services are accessible for people with disabilities, including wheelchair ramps, elevators, accessible washrooms, and other features that will make it easier for people of determination to move around and access resources.
Promote Inclusivity: Create a more inclusive environment by actively including people of determination in all aspects of community life. Provide training and support for employers, educators, and others to promote a more inclusive environment and consider reverse inclusion.
Create Opportunities: Create opportunities for people of determination to participate in various aspects of community life, including employment, education, and recreational activities tailored to their needs.
Empower Through Education: Provide access to quality education that empowers people of determination with the skills and knowledge they need to be self-sufficient and achieve their goals. Promote inclusive education that values diversity and teaches all children to respect and appreciate differences.
Provide Support: Provide support for families of people of determination, including respite care, counseling, and financial assistance.
