Summer fun and learning end in Dubai for People of Determination

The curtains on the sixth edition of summer activities for the People of Determination have ended, concluding eight weeks of fun and learning activities that witnessed the participation of 250 members, 150 volunteers and more than 30 sponsors.

The 2022 edition featured 280 activities, most notably sports events, initiatives and platforms to discover talents and 21 external entertainment trips to various destinations in Dubai, most notably the Burj Khalifa, Mohammed bin Rashid Library, the Museum of the Future, Dubai Mall, Modhesh World and Children’s City, in addition to interactive training programmes.

The closing ceremony, held at the Dubai Club for People of Determination, includes several programmes, including the operetta, Al Waad, presented by the People of Determination and honouring partners behind the successful event, in addition to a releasing a video that tells the story of a unique activity held during the eight weeks of energy and interaction.

Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman of Dubai Club for People of Determination, praised the role of various working teams that presented an exceptional version of summer activities, bringing benefits to everyone. The Dubai Club translated into action the directives of wise leadership to provide a friendly environment for People of Determination.

He asserted the activities were a golden opportunity for the 250 participants to invest their energies during the summer and enhance their skills. “We aim to hold such important events to develop the skills of People of Determination and discover the spirit of creativity and learning along with targeting more participants from one course to another.

He added: “The activities attracted wider participation from government and private institutions, led by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), and a promising group of volunteers, which helped the sixth edition achieve all its goals. This also resulted in the participants learning various scientific, social and cultural skills and sports.”

Majid Al Usaimi, Chairman of the Organising Committee, said the summer activities benefitted the participants who received an ideal environment. “The activities sent out the message about the full integration of People of Determination into society.”

Usaimi, also the President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, thanked His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, for the diamond sponsorship of the Summer Activities, highlighting its role in supporting and empowering People of Determination through sustainable initiatives.

He also thanked the teams and volunteers who contributed to the success of these activities. The sixth season witnessed the return of the Summer Activities that were held under precautionary measures after the programmes were cancelled over the past two years due to the pandemic.

The activities this year were held to enhance the participants’ abilities and fully integrate People of Determination into society, with more than 100 workshops taking place every day at the Dubai Club for People of Determination.
