The Emirates Association for the Deaf celebrated the opening of its new headquarters at the Family Development Headquarters in Baniyas, coinciding with the fourteenth anniversary of its founding. The new headquarters was opened in Abu Dhabi with support from the Community Contributions Authority “Together” and the Family Development Foundation.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of officials in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the President of the World Federation of the Deaf and his accompanying delegation, in addition to a number of heads of deaf associations in the Gulf, the Arab world and Russia. The ceremony included a mini exhibition of handicraft products and various artistic works by deaf girls.
The Emirates Association for the Deaf was established with the aim of serving the deaf group in all the Emirates, and those dealing with them, including parents, teachers and translators, based on the great confidence in the importance of this precious group to the UAE society.
This celebration coincides with the country’s celebration of receiving the banner of organizing and hosting the International Conference of the World Federation of the Deaf at its twentieth session in 2027, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa region, and is organized by the Zayed Higher Organization in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and the Emirates Association for the Deaf.
Commenting on this issue, Mr. Musabah Al Neyadi, President of the Emirates Association for the Deaf, said: “We are keen to continue providing our activities and events for the deaf and hard of hearing category, which contributes to enhancing their skills and integrating them into society in a way that supports the wheel of progress witnessed by the United Arab Emirates.”
The association contributes to supporting its members from various members of society in learning sign language, which would enable the deaf to express themselves, their feelings, and their needs, and it also helps them to participate in various social, cultural, and economic activities.
Al Neyadi added, “The association aims, through its cooperation with strategic partners, to enable the deaf to obtain general and higher education and to provide appropriate jobs through coordination with the relevant employment authorities, in order to ensure that they have equal opportunities with other members of society.”
He also expressed his happiness on the occasion of the country’s victory in organizing the World Conference of the Deaf 2027, stressing that it will constitute a milestone in the development of services that will be provided to the deaf in the country or in the Middle East and North Africa region, as we look forward to meeting everyone in the capital, Abu Dhabi.
