Over the past year, The New England Center for Children (NECC) Clinic – Dubai has continued to expand the ways it supports children and families beyond traditional clinic-based therapeutic services.
Through collaborative community partnerships and individualized programming, the clinic has created opportunities for students of determination to strengthen social, communication, leisure, and academic skills in meaningful, real-world environments. Two programs that have particularly reflected this commitment are the Inclusive Kids Camp and the Tutor Club.
The Inclusive Kids Camp, held at Ranches Primary School, was developed to provide children with a supportive and engaging environment focused on social interaction and leisure skill development.
Led by a multidisciplinary team of behaviour analysts, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists, the group-based program incorporates structured play, movement activities, crafts, and cooperative games designed to encourage communication, peer engagement, and independence.
This allows for generalization of skills outside of the 1:1 therapy setting into group activities, helping children successfully participate and build confidence in social settings. For children requiring one-to-one assistance, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) are also welcomed to attend alongside their students.
The Tutor Club, held at the NECC Clinic – Dubai, provides a more intensive and individualized level of instruction for students requiring targeted academic and therapeutic support, allowing clinicians to deliver highly personalized teaching and skill development tailored to each child’s needs.
The NECC team works closely with partner schools, who provide goals related to each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for the clinical team to continue developing throughout the program. Academic content is adapted and delivered in an individualized way that ensures it is accessible to each and every child.
