The Rashid Centre for People of Determination, was established in 1994, starting in a small villa in Jumeriah. Then in 2002, moved to a purpose-built Centre in Al Barsha. This was only possible due to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, who donated the Land.
A Non-for-Profit Centre that offers an integrated education / therapy service for both Arabic and English children up to the age of 18 and a pre-vocational/employment training workshops for young people aged 18+
Our Centre supports students presenting with a range of disabilities, that include physical, intellectual and sensory needs. From Early Years to the Senior Department, we offer classroom-based learning along with student centred activities such as, music, art, drama, physical education, swimming, interactive smart technology and have recently implemented a LEGO Therapy room. During the cooler months of the academic year, we also implement Hippotherapy sessions
Our Physiotherapists, Occupational and Speech and Language therapists work with individual students, and whole classes, depending on their needs of the students. Our Multi-Disciplinary teams work together, enabling each student to progress and achieve success in their learning.
Our pre-vocational workshops offer training in the areas of Carpentry, Gardening, Printing, Textiles and Baking. Trainees gain a range of skills, which enables some to progress into employment. The products produced within the workshop are sold and displayed in various locations within the UAE, showcasing the talent and range of abilities.
At the end of the school day, we offer an outpatients clinic during the afternoons and on a Saturday. Our Outpatients Clinic caters for all ages and includes, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy plus Behaviour Intervention / Management, educational support classes and Hydrotherapy.
We are proud to be participating in this year’s Access-Abilities Expo 2022 at stand number 7306, situated to the right of the Oman Pavilion, and look forward to showcasing our services to the many visitors that will attend. Our specialists will be available to demonstrate the current A I Technology that is used within the Centre.
